Religion

At Parkway, we are proud that Religious Education enables our pupils to:

  • Acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the six main faiths represented in the United Kingdom
  • Develop an understanding of the influence of beliefs, values and traditions on individuals, communities and cultures locally and globally
  • Develop positive attitudes of respect towards other people who hold views and beliefs different to their own, and towards living in a society of diverse religions and beliefs

Other skills that our children will develop are reflecting, comparing, linking ideas, discussing, asking questions, exploring, building confidence, remembering and listening.

At present, Parkway Primary School follows the 2014 Bexley Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Bexley are currently reviewing this syllabus and have proposed a more up-to-date one which is awaiting approval. We teach a creative curriculum so we have found many links that we can use to make the lessons more relevant and fun  including art and music. These can be seen on the Parkway Curriculum Map.

Religions studied at present are Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism.
