Summer 1: Changes

Our theme for the first half of the summer term is 'Changes'.

We will be looking at lots of different changes in our environment:

• how the seasons change the natural world around us
• changes in water- the effects of freezing, thawing and evaporation
• colour mixing and how to make secondary colours from the 3 primary colours
• changes in forces- pushes, pulls, twists and magnets
• reversible and irreversible changes- we will be doing lots of cooking!
• growing- including the lifecycle of a butterfly and a frog

Spring Term 1

Firstly, a big thank you to all the pupils, parents and carers for making Mrs Rowe and Miss Jones so welcome  The children have all had a brilliant start to the term and have really impressed us with their attitude to their learning.

Our topic this term is 'People Who Help Us'.

We have begun our topic by thinking about all the people who help us at home, school and in our community. We came up with a really long list and Mrs Rowe was very happy when we all said we enjoy helping each other at school. There are too many fantastic helpers in our community to learn about all of them but we have chosen to focus on:

• Police officers
• Fire fighters
• Health professionals, doctos, nurses, paramedics, dentists etc.
• Vets

Then for our last week of term we will be thinking about our mental health and learning all about Chinese New Year.

So far this term:

Autumn 1 

This term in Reception we are learning about themselves in our topic all about me.  We will be looking at;

- Our likes and dislikes 

- Our family

- Our Home

- How we are unique 

We will also be looking at the season Autumn. 

Every Tuesday the children will be going to the schools library.

Every Thursday the children in reception will have PE. PE kits will be sent home at the end of each half term. This term we was looking at walking and jumping.
